Opioid-Related Overdose Deaths data reports the crude rate of opioid-related overdose deaths. The crude rate is calculated as the number of opioid-related overdose deaths in a year dived by the population in that year. For instance, the crude opioid-related overdose death rate per 100,000 population = (Total number of opioid-related overdose deaths / Total number of population) x 100,000. Crude death rates based on fewer than six cases (i.e., deaths) are considered unreliable, thus not published. Data is available for the years 1999 to 2022.
